Museum - reserve "Kazan Kremlin"
The "pearl of the city" - is a 16th-18th century architectural ensemble, white-is on the list of the UNESCO World Heritage. Its architecture combines features of Russian, Tatar, and European cultures. The Kazan Kremlin is the only surviving Tatar fortress where the original town-planning concept is conserved. The Kremlin is the residence of the President of the Republic Tatarstan.
St.Peter and Paul Cathedral
Functioning St.Peter and Paul Cathedral was built in 1726 to commemorate the visit of Russian Emperor Peter the Great to Kazan. It represents a wonderful monument of Russian Baroque. The cathedral contains a rich seven-tier carved gilded iconostasis. In the altar, there is a list of miracles worked by the icon of Our lady of Kazan - the patroness of Russian people in difficult periods of time.
Pedestrian Bauman street
Is notable for historic structures dating back to the 18th-20th centuries. Among them, there is the Epiphany Church, where outstanding Russian singer Fedor Shalyapin was christened. Various sculptural compositions and fountains made after Tatar legends as well as old street lamps and pavilions impart inimitable charm to the street. Tourists will have a unique chance to sit in the carriage of Catherine II and meet characters from fairy-tales of famous Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukai.
The Mardzhany Mosque
Built in 1771 is one of the first stone mosques in the city. Ita construction was licensed by Russian Empress Catherine II.

2. "Ancient Kazan" - "exhibition at the National cultural center "Kazan""
The Ancient Kazan exhibition presents history of the Kazan region since ancient time. Here, unique archeological finds proving that Kazan is 1000 years old, jewelry made by Bulgarian craftsmen in the 12th century, sacred books, household articles, as well as specimens of national dresses, military clothes and music instruments of Kazan Tatars are exhibited. Paintings of Kazan artists, sculpture, wood-carving, the duplicate of Kazan Cap (the Tzar's crown) and the throne of Ivan the terrible provide a vivid picture of historical epoch.

3. "Kazan University - 200 years of history of great discoveries"
is an early Russian university, which celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2004. The architectural ensemble of Kazan University is a monument of architecture representing 19 century classicism. Tourists will visit the University History Museum and learn the names of many prominent scientists, writres and musicisns who studied at Kazan University and brought fame to Russia/ It also contains a depositary of rare manuscripts written in the 12th -16th centuries.

4. Raifsky Monastery (35 km from Kazan)
is the unique Baroque monastic complex (17th century) preserved in Tatarstan. It is located on the bank of a picturesque lake in the area of the Volga -Kama Nature Reserve. Among its objects of worship, thre is the icon of Our Lady of Georgia.

5. Boat trip on the Volga to the Svijazhsl island. (30 km from Kazan)
16th century active Assumption monastery, St. John the Baptist Convent are preserved on the island -former fortress built by the order of Ivan the IV in 1551 during the siege of Kazan. The oldest structure of the Convent is wooden Trinity church, visited by Ivan the IV.
